One of our associates examined and analyzed changes to EU legislation concerning recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments: the changes were introduced by Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2012 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters, being a recast of Regulation (EU) No 44/2001 of the same name, known as “Brussels I”. Although the new Regulation applies from 10 January 2015, it is important to know and understand now substantial changes introduced by this document, one of which is the abolition of exequatur.
